LapZe embarked on his journey in the world of writing and rapping in 2003 under the alias “RelapZe.” In 2006, he teamed up with lifelong friends Oblivious and PATH, forming the group HOMICIDE. However, due to life events and addiction, he parted ways with them before the recording of their initial project, “Turmoil” with new member Moppy.
In 2008, Lapze reunited with his former partners, transitioning to the roles of a graphic designer and solo artist under the newly established Historical Records. During his tenure with Historical Records, he continually refined his writing and performing style, eventually unveiling his inaugural project, “From the Ashes,” in 2010.
Over the subsequent years, Lapze, in collaboration with his partner Oblivious (now BlivBeats), assumed co-management of the label. Together, they delved into event promotion and ventured into video production with their company, 24 Pictures. In 2016, Historical Records marked its culmination with the release of the final group project, “History In The Making,” and subsequently disbanded in 2017.
In 2018, Lapze embarked on a new chapter, joining forces with the Bay Area video production company Noble Cinema as a visual rffects artist and video editor, operating under the moniker “LapzeFX.” His work in the design and video community gained substantial recognition and success.
In early 2020, during his tenure with Noble Cinema, Lapze crossed paths with Reno, NV-based artist and fellow graphic designer Doc Gruesome of the underground rap group ILLTRIX. Their collaboration through Gruesome Graphics and LapzeFX led to Lapze’s involvement in a project called “The Cerberus Clique,” being organized partly by Doc Gruesome.
Late in 2021, Gruesome introduced Lapze to EJ Prophet, a partner in the project and a member of the underground rap group Salem Alumni, solidifying a dynamic trio. Over the next year, Lapze contributed to the project under his new alias, “Lapze,” alongside Illtrix, Salem Alumni, Bay Area artist Odprophet, and the legendary underground producer and artist, Bad Mind of Bank Hard Beats.
Tragically, in late 2022, the group suffered the loss of EJ Prophet. Despite this setback, they persevered to release “Book of the Dead Chapter 1” in January 2023, originally intended as part of a two-disc project. Their journey continued as they worked on the rest of the project, with “Book of the Dead Chapter 2” releasing on Halloween 2023. Additionally, Lapze released a limited production of his entire back catalog, titled “Paved in Broken Dreams,” providing a retrospective on his musical history and collaborations leading up to his time with the Cerberus Clique.
In 2025, he began working on a project with long time partner Oblivious of BlivBeats and released a 7 track EP Titled “Chrysalis,” which promises a much more active return to his music and the anticipation for a full-length project with his current group mate Bank Hard Beats to be titled “The Voidborne Crown.”
